A Fantastic Discovery

Yesterday, I made the most amazing discovery. I needed to redo parts of my podcast intro because the character Rotherick was simply not cutting through enough. Not enough...punch.

As I was editing, I decided to duplicate the original recording and edit that (sounds reasonable). And after editing the copy, I played it back, noting that the character was coming through MUCH better. HUH?!?!?

I also noticed that I hadn't muted the original track. I duplicated my duplicate (which had edits on it) and muted the original.

Dual Voice Tracks in Reaper

WOW having both tracks playing really made the intro pop.

Now, this might be a trick some of you sound engineers use, but for me who didn't realize this, its a happy little surprise.
